Life-threatening emergencies don’t wait until it’s convenient for you, you need to know first aid and CPR before they happen. Whether you’re at home, at work, or out and about, having the skills to provide first aid and perform CPR could mean the difference between life and death for someone you care about. Our comprehensive first aid and CPR certification course can equip you with the life-saving skills to respond when someone gets seriously hurt.

What's Covered in Our First Aid Course

Our HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course automatically includes your CPR certification (HLTAID009), so you walk away with both your first aid and CPR qualification in one go. The course is nationally accredited, meaning it’s recognised everywhere in Australia.

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid Training

The first aid training course covers more than 25 of the most common first aid conditions and illnesses, including wounds, burns, fractures, sprains, allergic reactions, asthma and anaphylaxis attacks, and various other medical emergencies. You’ll learn first aid management techniques, such as bandaging and splinting, and how to use basic first aid equipment like bandages, ice packs, and slings.

HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Course (CPR Course)

While HLTAID011 includes CPR, CPR training can be taken separately through a HLTAID009 Provide CPR course. This content covers resuscitation techniques for adults, children, and infants. You’ll learn the DRSABCD protocol, (Danger, Response, Send for help, Airway, Breathing, CPR, Defibrillation), a step-by-step approach for any emergency, including how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

An Accredited Hands-On First Aid Training Course

You learn by doing, not just reading about it. Our first aid and CPR training puts you in realistic situations where you practise the knowledge and skills you’ll need during an emergency.

Practical Scenarios and Simulations: When someone’s life is on the line, you won’t have time to remember what you read in a book. Our hands-on practice means that when the worst happens, your body will know what to do automatically. You’ll have already felt what it’s like to perform CPR, so you won’t panic when it’s real.

Skills Practice and Assessment: We offer both a complete face-to-face course (5 hours) and a blended option where you complete readings and a quiz online before attending the 2-hour practical session. Either way, all hands-on assessment happens in person with our trainer, who provides individual feedback and ensures you’re confident with your skills.

Workplace Requirements: The Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act and WHS Regulations require all Australian workplaces to provide first aid facilities and trained first aiders. This means workplaces like schools, construction sites, offices with more than 10 people, childcare centres, and many others must have staff with a current first aid and CPR certification. Your boss might ask you to get certified, or you might want it for job applications to make yourself look more employable.

Sports and Recreation: Coaches, referees, and sports club volunteers often need first aid certification. Sports injuries are extremely common, and having trained people can prevent minor injuries from becoming serious ones.

Family Medical Conditions: People caring for family members with diabetes, epilepsy, severe allergies, or heart conditions benefit from knowing how to respond to medical emergencies specific to those conditions.

Personal Interest: Some people simply want to be prepared to help strangers in public emergencies. Whether it’s someone having a heart attack at the shops or a child choking at a restaurant, these skills let you step up when others might freeze.

Beyond Basic First Aid

Depending on your work or situation, you may benefit from another first aid course more than HLTAID011. These specialised first aid and CPR courses cover the same basic first aid skills but focus on environments where you’ll face different challenges.

HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting: Designed for teachers, childcare workers, and education support staff, this course covers everything in the standard first aid certification plus additional training on emergencies common in school environments.

HLTAID013 Provide First Aid in Remote or Isolated Site: For people working or living in remote areas where medical help might be hours away, this course teaches you to manage emergencies over extended periods of time.

HLTAID014 Provide Advanced First Aid: A comprehensive course for people who want extensive first aid knowledge, this course covers advanced assessment techniques, multiple casualty management, and crushing injuries.
