CPR Done Differently Course Overview

HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course equips individuals with the essential knowledge and skills to perform CPR and use a defibrillator, thereby increasing survival rates in adults, children, or infants in cardiac arrest.

The course covers recognising and assessing emergency situations, ensuring safety, seeking assistance, performing CPR according to Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines, operating an automated external defibrillator, following the DRSABCD protocol, and reporting incident details. The certification is valid for 12 months and requires annual renewal.

HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation is the nationally accredited qualification for basic life support, adhering to the ARC Guidelines and is recognised Australia-wide.

First Aid Pro is a trusted registered training organisation, always ensuring a supportive environment for all participants to demonstrate their practical skills effectively.

What To Expect At Your Walk In CPR Assessment

Upon completion of your online course, walk into our Darwin CPR training centre at any time between 8am and 4pm on your chosen day. You will be assessed on:

  • Follow ARC guidelines closely.
  • Make sure they’re positioned in a way that keeps their airway open and clear.
  • Stick to the ARC’s instructions.
  • Carry out at least 2 minutes of continuous CPR by yourself, including 5 rounds of chest compressions and breaths on a manikin on the ground.
  • Use an AED as directed to give at least one shock.
  • Keep the CPR going with as few breaks as possible, even when switching rescuers.
  • Handle any vomiting or regurgitation quickly and safely.
  • After the CPR, pass the situation to emergency services and report what happened accurately.
  • Reflect on the situation to learn from it.
  • Manage according to ARC standards.
  • Perform uninterrupted CPR for at least 2 minutes, doing 5 cycles of compressions and ventilations on a manikin set on a hard surface.

You must have mastered these three procedures in order to ensure that you pass your assessment successfully. This practical assessment is designed to show that you’re ready to provide quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation in real-life emergency situations.

Your Online CPR Training

Allocate time to complete the online component, designed as an interactive and cost-effective way to learn CPR procedures and emergency first aid response. This prepares you for the practical demonstration required for successful completion.

The time it takes to finish the online learning component can vary, depending on your prior knowledge, experience, and language and literacy skills.

CPR Refresher Courses

The Australian Resuscitation Council strongly recommends that CPR training be renewed every 12 months to ensure that individuals are up to date with the latest CPR guidelines and practices and so that basic life support skills remain instinctive and ready to use.

Furthermore, some job roles especially in healthcare and educational settings mandate the annual renewal of CPR and the 3 yearly renewal of a General First Aid certificate.

With First Aid Pro’s new CPR Done Differently course with assessment on demand it has never been easier to renew your accredited CPR certification.

Critically, some Australian States will not recognise online CPR certification that does not have any hands-on training. With First Aid Pro’s new CPR Done Differently, you can renew your CPR qualification every year with ease and be sure that your certificate is fully accredited across Australia.

Keep your skills sharp and your qualifications current with our CPR Done Differently from First Aid Pro.

Absolutely! Our course is perfectly suited for those looking to renew their CPR certification. It’s designed to update your skills according to the latest guidelines and practices and is a fully accredited CPR course.

While the theoretical aspects of CPR training can be completed online, a practical assessment in person is mandated in certain Australian states and is essential to ensure you have the hands-on skills needed to perform CPR effectively. Our course offers a blend of online learning and walk-in practical assessments to meet this requirement.

In Australia, CPR assessment requires practical demonstration. An online first aid qualification such as a CPR course is valid when it includes a practical component of with face to face training. The total time commitment for our CPR course, including online learning and the practical assessment, varies. Online components can typically be completed in a few hours, and the practical assessment is designed to be concise yet thorough and will generally go for 1 hour.

Our CPR Done Differently course is priced at $39, making it an affordable option for those looking to gain or renew their CPR certification with a nationally accredited program.

It is possible to fail if the required competencies are not demonstrated during the practical assessment. However, our trainers are committed to providing guidance and support to ensure all participants have the best chance of success.

In Australia, CPR certification typically needs to be renewed annually. This ensures individuals are up-to-date with the latest CPR techniques and guidelines and can provide immediate, basic life support without hesitation.
